Murder at Midnight announces star-studded cast ahead of Everyman Theatre arrival
Cheltenham
Venue: Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham
The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is set to welcome a gripping new comedy thriller next month, as Original Theatre brings Murder at Midnight to the stage from Tuesday 23rd to Saturday 27th September 2025.
From the pen of acclaimed playwright Torben Betts, following his smash-hit success Murder in the Dark, this brand-new show promises suspense and razor-sharp wit in a twist-filled mystery that will keep Cheltenham audiences on the edge of their seats until the final stroke of midnight.
Directed by Philip Franks, Murder at Midnight boasts a stellar cast, with Jason Durr (Heartbeat, Casualty) as gangster Jonny ‘The Cyclops’, Susie Blake (Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV, Coronation Street) as his mother Shirley, Max Bowden (EastEnders) as Paul, and Katie McGlynn (Coronation Street, Hollyoaks) as Lisa. They’re joined by Callum Balmforth, Peter Moreton, Iryna Poplavska, Bella Farr and Andy McLeod.
Set on New Year’s Eve in a quiet corner of Kent, the scene is set for a high-stakes evening involving a suitcase of cash, deadly weapons, and one very infamous unsolved murder. From jittery carers and suspicious vicars to a burglar in a clown costume, the house is full of suspects, and by midnight, someone won’t make it to the New Year.
This Cheltenham date forms part of a major UK tour, giving local audiences the chance to be among the very first to see this exciting new production before it heads out on a UK tour.
With its mix of suspense, farce, and darkly comic twists, Murder at Midnight is produced by the award-winning team behind Birdsong, The Mirror Crack’d and Murder in the Dark.
The creative team also includes Designer Colin Falconer, Lighting Designer Jason Taylor, Sound Designer and Composer Max Pappenheim, Casting Director Ellie Collyer-Bristow, and Fight and Intimacy Directors Rc-Annie.
