Humanity in Action: First-hand experience of life in the West Bank

Cheltenham

Dates: 07/12/2023

Venue: Quaker Meeting House, Warwick Place, GL52 2NP

A talk by Ian Cave.

At the start of this year, Ian joined a team of international volunteers in Palestine for three months as part of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI).

He will speak of his experience and provide some context about why Palestinians in the West Bank have been so frustrated by their situation for decades.

Ian was based in Hebron, which is a Palestinian city in the southern part of the Occupied West Bank, about 25 miles south of Jerusalem. It’s a city of 220,000 Palestinians with about 700 Jewish settlers living right in the centre. These settlements and many others in the West Bank are illegal under international law but are protected by the Israeli military.

His role was to monitor violations of human rights such as access to education, work, and worship.

Also on zoom. See website for details.
