Tradition and Legacy: A Spotlight on George Whitefield

A new exhibition exploring the life of one of Gloucester's most well known figures, George Whitefield, has opened at the Museum of Gloucester.

Whitefield was one of the founders of Methodism and a highly successful preacher, but also advocated for slavery and owned a plantation in the United States.

This exhibition seeks to share a more accurate and balanced account of Whitefield's life and legacy, and encourages visitors to draw and share their own conclusions regarding Whitefield's place in Gloucester's history.

This exhibition can be viewed on the first floor of the Museum.
