Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen returns to The Everyman Theatre this summer

Jane Austen’s joyful romance is set partly in Regency Bath and partly at Northanger Abbey in rural Gloucestershire. Our naïve heroine, Catherine Morland, is obsessed with reading Gothic horror novels, which fuel her overactive imagination. In her mind, nothing is ever what it seems. Thank goodness she finds a down-to-earth, unsentimental suitor in Henry Tilney. But with Henry comes the rest of his family and their idiosyncratic ways. This new production of what is agreed to be Jane Austen’s earliest major work promises to be light-hearted, fun and just a little bit scary.

From the company which brought you last year’s highly successful Sense and Sensibility.
